The wireless hand-held scanner updates the CDMS data files immediately. These scanners talk to the UNIX server by using the TCPIP protocol through a radio frequency signal. It creates a live connection, so there is no uploading of the data from the hand-held scanner as is required with some other software packages. Scanning a barcode label in Point of Sale Entry or Order/Invoice Maintenance speeds up the entry time of a customer's order and accuracy of the items being sold.
